Relax and Get the Dental Care You Need with Sedation Dentistry

woman getting dental procedureDoes the idea of going to the dentist make you anxious or fearful? You’re not alone. Millions of Americans suffer from dental phobia or anxiety that prevents them from receiving necessary dental treatment.

At Mason Dental, we understand how crippling this fear can be. That’s why we’re proud to offer a relaxing solution – sedation dentistry. With safe, controlled sedation, even the most stressful procedures can be completed while you remain completely calm and comfortable.

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry uses medication to induce a relaxed, anxiety-free state during dental treatment. Multiple sedation options are available depending on your needs:

Oral Conscious Sedation
By taking a prescribed pill upon your arrival, you’ll achieve a “semi-awake” state of relaxation. You’ll remain responsive but with little to no memory of the procedure.

IV Sedation
With intravenous sedation, the medication is administered directly into the bloodstream for a deeper level of conscious sedation tailored to your needs.

Nitrous Oxide
Also known as “laughing gas”, nitrous oxide is a mild sedative inhaled through a nasal mask that promotes a calm, euphoric feeling. It wears off quickly after treatment.

No matter which form of sedation dentistry is used, you’ll have little to no memory of sights, smells or noises during treatment. More importantly, your experience will be free of the crippling anxiety that prevents you from getting dental care or has made previous experiences unpleasant.

Who Can Benefit from Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation can benefit patients dealing with varying levels of dental fear, anxiety or phobia. It’s particularly helpful for those undergoing extensive procedures, those with special needs, or people who:

  • Had traumatic dental experiences in the past
  • Suffer from severe gag reflexes
  • Have difficulty getting numb with local anesthetics
  • Experience high levels of stress around sights/smells of dentistry

The reality is that many patients come to our practice with a certain level of anxiety. Many have had terrible experiences elsewhere that make them afraid to seek the dental care they need. If this is true for you, we’d encourage you to read our over 500 5-star google reviews, many of which are from patients who were nervous before their first visit! Here are a few samples:

“Mason Dental has completely changed my experience with dentists for the better! I have always been terrified of the dentist, but everyone here is so kind and knowledgeable, and they make you feel safe and heard! Dawn is an incredible hygienist!” – Brianna M.

“I changed dentists to Dr Mason after bad experiences with another office in the area. After using them for the last couple of years, I still love how they inform, provide options, but never pressure me when sharing the types of services they offer.” – Samuel S.

“I’ve seen Dr. Mason since 2011 and Dawn for my cleanings. They are thorough with cleanings and screenings. I have a high maintenance mouth and they stay on top of my needs. I’ve had basic dental care, fillings, crowns, and one implant. After a couple of bad experiences with another dentist I won’t go anywhere else except Mason dental.” LaDora L.
