What Is Endodontics?

Endodontics is the dental specialty centered on the treatment of the dental pulp and tissues surrounding the root of a tooth. Most commonly, this includes root canal therapy, along with retreatment, endodontic surgery, and complex trauma care—especially for preserving teeth that would otherwise be lost.

Services We Provide

Root Canal Therapy

Treats deep infection or irreversible inflammation in the pulp to relieve pain and save the tooth

Involves access, cleaning, shaping, sealing with biocompatible cements, and restoration with a crown or filling.

Nonsurgical Retreatment

If a previous root canal fails or symptoms recur, Dr. Middleton can retreat the tooth to address lingering infection or structural issues.

Endodontic Microsurgery (Apicoectomy)

When nonsurgical methods aren’t enough, precision surgery is performed to remove infection at the root tip and seal the canal to prevent further decay.

Traumatic Tooth Repair & Cracked Tooth Treatment

For teeth damaged by injury or cracks, specialized endodontic care can restore function and prevent extraction. For many patients, the prospects of saving their natural tooth gives them peace of mind and saves them on their bottom line.

Why Choose Mason Dental and Dr. Middleton?

Advanced Diagnostic Tools

Dr. Middleton and our team use the most advanced CT imaging and magnification technology to view complex root anatomies and hidden canals. This allows them to plan the most complete and effective treatment for your case.

Patient Comfort & Personal Care

We ensure that you are comfortable when you’re in our chair. Whether it be a pillow and blanket or soft music playing to pass the time, we want to give you the best possible experience.

IV sedation options are available for patients who want to enjoy a completely stress-free time and simply wake up once the procedure is over!

The Treatment Process

Consultation & Imaging: We conduct an initial evaluation with digital X‑rays and CBCT to understand your specific case.

Cleaning & Disinfection: Infected pulp is removed; canals are shaped and disinfected using advanced techniques and irrigants.

Filling & Sealing: Canals are sealed to prevent reinfection.

Restoration: A final restoration—typically a crown—is placed to reinforce the tooth.

Follow-up & Maintenance: Post‑procedure guidance and check-ups ensure long-term success.
